Water sustainability research

Discover the impact of our research developing practical approaches to water management, sustainability and water security across India and around the world.

Developing solutions for a changing water future

Water is essential for communities, agriculture and healthy ecosystems. Western Sydney University researchers are working to better understand how water, landscapes and people interact, and to develop more sustainable approaches to managing this vital resource.

Research includes sustainable groundwater use and management, irrigation, water resource planning and aquifer recharge. In India, research through the MARVI project has worked with farmers and communities in Rajasthan and Gujarat to monitor groundwater resources, improve water use and explore water-saving practices.
