HCA/HIE VR LiDAR model of The Driftway, Richmond and EucFace Experiments HIE
Kate Richards, Paul Rymer, Andrew Leahy, Jos Gatto, WSU PX Students 2022
WebsiteThis interactive VR depicts and interprets 2 x key HIE sites being The Driftway, Richmond, and the EucFace experiments. The VR uses LiDAR data that belongs to HIE and UNSW of the site. There is a VR version, and a desktop games version. The software will be used by scientists and general public stakeholders to better understand the complexity and values of revegetation and environmental restoration. The key research questions are: What interactive 3D media forms can enhance, communicate and engage communities with the intangible values for improved conservation outcomes in Western Sydney? What natural assets (i.e. landscapes, sites, species) are important to people? What are the shared values for conservation? How can we visualise these and get people to engage with them? Funded by HCA Cross Disciplinary Research Seedling Grant Winter 2022.
