Online vs F2F Learning

In this pod Dr Milissa Deitz explains the differences between studying in face-to-face/blended mode and being a fully online student. In the Communication Arts program (Communications, Screen Media and Creative Industries) students enrolled in face-to-face/blended units typically attend face-to-face tutorials and watch/attend lectures in a mix of face-to-face and online modes. Students enrolled in select online units or who are fully online, however, are typically not required to come to campus to complete their studies.

Over the last few years we’ve found many students underestimate the commitment that online study requires. While it does mean reduced time on campus, online students still need to attend fixed tutorials online at particular times. The flexibility of online mode is about where you study not when. Studying online requires a stable internet connection, an ability to engage and work across different media and networked environments, and dedication to completing tasks ahead of the scheduled class time. If you’re thinking about which study mode will suit you best then you’ll want to watch Milissa’s pod.
