‘Future Scenario’ scholar, Tony Fry, reiterates the idea of “Dig Where You Stand”. (Fry, 2009) The principle is to look into your local situation and to see how you can bring the awareness from that micro situation, case study or moment of realisation to the fore. Can you then see if you can apply what you learn on this smaller scale to a larger one?

![Professor Alexis Wright’s magnificent new novel, Praiseworthy, was published in April 2023 by Giramondo Publishing. We are honoured at WSU to have the opportunity to work with Alexis.
Praiseworthy is a major addition to world literature - the book is set in the Northern Territory and asks big questions of Australia. Alexis is a featured guest at this week’s Sydney Writers’ Festival. She will be speaking about Praiseworthy this Saturday evening, and tickets can be booked here:
