This website supports the work that has taken place in conjunction with an ARC project: Digital Archives, Datadiversity and Discoverability: The Strehlow Collection: Knowledge Resource for Remote Indigenous Communities.

This project explores the knowledge values and connections of the Strehlow Collection as it undergoes digitisation and dissemination to its Aboriginal constituents. Our project aims to build capacity for Aboriginal users to engage with the narratives embedded in the Collection and to further community use of their cultural materials. How does the digital change conditions of knowledge building and sharing? Are the technologies universal? Or do they need to be modified according to cultural and political contexts? The project considers the new knowledge and archival practices that emerge when technologies such as digitisation combine with specific Aboriginal communities of interest.
